Info from Director of Coaching, Seamus Donnelly will be posted here as available for each season.

Winter School of Xcellence (WSoX)

Back for its tenth straight year, this program is all about technical development through quality repetition. There will be a topic each week, players will be broken up into small groups, and our coaches will run them through stations. These are intense and demanding sessions (hence the use of the word Xcellence).

Where? Lanco Fieldhouse
When? Saturday mornings, 9-noon.
1st hour - PTP, u9 through u11
2nd hour - u12 through u15
3rd hour - u16 and older

Jan 21st - DRIBBLING

Futsal is a game synonymous with many of the top players in the world today. It originated in South America, and is very much about skill, fast footwork, and speed of play. This club has long promoted the correlation between futsal and overall skill development. I cannot stress enough how important it is for our players to try to attend. Our futsal sessions are free play. There is no "coaching" involved, only supervision. We see it as the perfect compliment to our SoX sessions that are very much exercise driven. Here, the players come and just play. The PL coaches present will guide the participants on how to play correctly to maximize the effect, but otherwise it is street soccer style.

Where? The Nook Sport Courts (except Jan 22nd)
When? Sunday afternoons
Jan 8th - 4-7pm
Jan 22nd - 4-7pm (on Hardwood Courts 4, 6, 8, 10)
Jan 29th - 5-8pm
Feb 5th - 1-4pm
Feb 26th - 4-7pm

1st hour - PTP, u9 through u11
2nd hour - u12 through u15
3rd hour - u16 and older

Speed & Agility Training

The importance of speed and agility training in the sport of soccer is that it is a fundamental element in everything a player needs to do. When it comes to technical expertise and comfort on the ball, we must backtrack to the player's first touch. Before that is their balance and footwork before the ball even arrives. The same can be said of what happens as soon as the player has the ball. Speed and explosiveness is the great separator. it is with all this mind that we came up with a soccer action specific training program in conjunction with the experts at The Nook. It will work on conditioning for sure, plus injury prevention, but it will also focus on change of direction, foot speed, agility, balance, coordination, and posture. Included in the sessions will be pre and post testing so that improvements can be measured and quantified. All in all, it should prove to be an excellent program for all our players who attend.

Where? The Nook
When? Tuesday and Thursday evenings - Updated: Times are now 4-7pm
Jan 3rd (pre-testing day), 5th, 10th, 12th, 17th, 19th, 24th, 26th, 31st.

Penn Legacy Flash Clinics

Basically, the premise for these clinics is that on random Thursdays during the winter, I will send out a notification to every u9 through u14 player that I will be holding a flash clinic on a certain skill or topic that weekend.   There will be a sign up link included and the first 20 players in each of the age groupings below will be in!  The topics and skills will be varied, and there may be some twists involved but it will be a fun hour of skill practice with the emphasis squarely on Individual Technique.  Just sign up on the link provided in the Thursday email, and then bring the $5 to the session.

Where? Lanco Fieldhouse
When?  Weekends in the winter (will never conflict with other club clinics)

  • 1st hour - u9 though u11
  • 2nd hour - u12 through u14

Cost?  $5 per session to cover rental fees.

For all Training Sessions
